The Government’s Leaders’ Council – bringing together local government leaders and ministers – met for the first time in October at the LGA’s annual conference in Harrogate.
The council will consider key cross-cutting issues facing the sector.
Cllr Louise Gittins, LGA Chair, said: “We welcome the establishment of this new political forum. It was one of the key asks of our Local Government White Paper and we recognise Secretary of State Angela Rayner’s enthusiasm for bringing this to life.
“We’ll be working with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to ensure it focuses on our members’ issues, as well as making sure local government’s voice is amplified across the Government’s broader vision for devolving more powers to communities.”
